St. Maarten - Can you imagine, you are a model from god knows where going through the expense of travelling to St. Maarten, this Caribbean island and then to hear that the Miss Model International Competition is cancelled, this due to mismanagement or bureaucracy? This is exactly what happened over the weekend of July 11, 2010. The organizers supposedly asked the St. Maarten government well in advance for a licence to have this modelling pageant at the Festival Village (better known as Carnival Village) but they got the license only the day before the event and this with some elbow work. But this was too late, as the stage set up people cannot put up an entire stage in just a day, so the organizers tried to move the show to another venue, but there that did not work either because it seems that the owner of the place wanted his money upfront... Very unprofessional indeed and giving St. Maarten a bad name.
